Art has always been an important part of my life. It was with my first camera in 1997 that I started to realise my enjoyment and love for photography. In 2013, shortly after buying my first digital camera, I decided to enrol in a photography course, which made me realise the depths to which I enjoyed, yet also knew so little about, this medium. since then I have tried to push myself and grow my portfolio and drive within the photography and art world. I find myself walking down the street seeing scenes set out for the camera, recognising the elements artists have used for their work and the perspectives which can so completely alter our world from someone else's. to see how we can create an emotion with a simple play of light or change a narrative by eliminating parts of the bigger picture. the fear and the vulnerability of showing my photographs has always been a big issue for me. in 2014 I started using Instagram, however with an altered name. This was my first step. in 2019 my first solo exhibition. Fight or Flight. it started with a new years resolution. it took me almost all of 2019 to finalise a date, two months before 2020. then came brainstorming along with the panic. fight or flight. this seemed to be predominately what I felt whilst trying to gather my thoughts, create a concept and put together a portfolio . then it it me. I should call the exhibition fight or flight. perfectly suited to how I felt. slowly and surely the photographs came together. in each image I found myself reflected. the fear and the freedom of flight as well as both the negativity and immense strength of fight. Several years have passed since then, and my desire to show the world through my lens continues...
